Johnny Cueto mowed down 11 Columbus batters as the Detroit Iron Gloves
defeated the Columbus Crowd by the score of 11 to 5 at the
ballpark.
Cueto(1-0) pitched a fine game. He went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 10 hits
and 3 walks and gave up 2 homeruns. Detroit ended up with 13 hits for the
game while Columbus had 10.
The losing pitcher was Jonathan Broxton(0-1) in relief. Cueto, when asked
about his 11 strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that we
won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the
other hand, since we won it feels great!'
